Editor’s Verdict

4XC upgrades its MT4/MT5 trading accounts with the Acuity plugin, an NDD trading environment with maximum Forex leverage of 1:500, and an excellent choice of payment processors. It also features an in-house copy trading service and PAMM accounts for traditional account management. I reviewed this Forex broker to evaluate if traders get a competitive edge. Should you trade Forex at 4XC?

I like the 4XC low trading fees, NDD trading environment, and choice of payment processors at 4XC. The Acuity plugin for MT4/MT5 presents manual traders with a high-quality upgrade. PAMM accounts and copy trading exist, but I still need VPS hosting for algorithmic traders, and 4XC does not offer 24/7 cryptocurrency CFD trading, limiting it to 24/5.

4XC Regulation & Security

Trading with a regulated broker will limit the potential for fraud and malpractice. I always recommend traders check for regulation and verify it with the regulator by checking the provided license with their database. 4XC presents clients with one regulated entity.

4XC Regulation

Is 4XC Legit and Safe?

4XC, founded in 2018 by Joao Monteiro, has yet to have the tenure of well-established competitors. Still, it has done an excellent job so far. Regulated by the FSC in the Cook Islands, 4XC segregates client deposits from corporate funds and offers negative balance protection—McMillan Woods audits 4XC, which also files regular reports with the FSC.

My review did not uncover malpractice or fraud. Still, I still need an investor compensation fund like the one the Hong Kong-based Financial Commission offers.

Fees

I rank trading costs among the most defining aspects when evaluating a broker, as they directly impact profitability. 4XC provides traders an expensive commission-free account where spreads start from 1.0 pips or $10.00 per 1.0 standard round lot. Regrettably, it is the only one with a swap-free Islamic option available.

The two commission-based alternatives feature a competitive pricing environment with raw spreads from 0.0 pips for a commission between $4.00 and $5.00 per 1.0 standard round lot. Swap rates on leveraged overnight positions are more expensive than competitors with ultra-low trading fees, but they remain reasonable.

The minimum trading costs for the EUR/USD at 4XC are:

The most ignored trading costs are swap rates on leveraged overnight positions. Depending on the trading strategy, it may become the most significant fee per trade. I always recommend that traders check them before evaluating the total trading costs.

MT4/MT5 traders can access swap rates from their platform by following these steps:

1. Right-click the desired symbol in the Market Watch window and select Specification.

2. Scroll down until you see Swap Long and Swap Short.

Below is a list of trading cost examples for buying and selling the EUR/USD, holding the trade for one night and seven nights in the commission-based Pro account.

Taking a 1.0 standard lot buy/sell position, in the EUR/USD, at the average spread and holding it for one night will cost the following:

Noteworthy:

  • 4XC offers positive swap rates in qualifying assets, meaning traders can get paid for holding leveraged overnight positions, like in the example above on EUR/USD short positions.

Range of Assets

4XC presents Forex traders with an adequate selection of 60 currency pairs. Still, the rest of the trading instruments are scarce. The commodity sector remains underrepresented, with only 4 commodity CFDs, while only 11 index CFDs are offered. Traders also get 5 cryptocurrency pairs and 2 futures contracts.

I still need equity CFDs and ETFs, but as a pure Forex broker, 4XC does well, including entry-level diversification opportunities. I prefer more cryptocurrency CFDs and commodities, so I cannot recommend 4XC to non-Forex traders.

4XC Leverage

4XC offers maximum Forex leverage of 1:500, which also applies to precious metals, while energies and Index CFDs max out at 1:200. Cryptocurrency traders get 1:20, making the overall trading environment competitive.

Traders must always use appropriate risk management with leveraged trading to avoid magnified trading losses. Negative balance protection exists at this broker, meaning traders can never lose more than their deposits.

Account Types

4XC has one commission-based and two commission-free account types. The Standard account requires a minimum deposit of $50 but has high trading fees. Therefore, I recommend the commission-based Pro account for $100, where traders benefit from a competitive pricing environment. The VIP option requires $10,000 but only sees a 20% cost reduction.

Supported account base currencies are USD, EUR, GBP, and BRL. There are no restrictions on trading strategies, and the minimum lot size is 0.01 lots or 1,000 currency units.

4XC Demo Account

4XC has an MT4/MT5 demo account for all account types, but the default balance of $50,000 is excessive. My review did not uncover a time limit, and the MT4/MT5 trading accounts allow full customization, confirming that 4XC understands most requirements of demo trading. I recommend traders use similar settings to their preferred live portfolios for a more realistic demo trading experience.

I want to caution beginner traders when using demo trading as an educational tool, and they should consider the limitations. Demo trading does not grant exposure to the full range of trading psychology and can create unrealistic expectations.

Trading Platforms

Traders get the MT4/MT5 trading platforms, and 4XC upgrades them via the Acuity plugin, which includes the Signal Center, approved by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, where traders get AI-assisted trading recommendations. It also features a user-friendly economic calendar and market alerts.

Both trading platforms are available as customizable desktop clients, lightweight web-based alternatives, and user-friendly mobile apps. MT4 remains the industry leader with 25,000+ custom indicators, plugins, and EAs, but the quality upgrades are not free. It also has an embedded copy trading service.

Unique Features

Besides the Acuity plugin for MT4/MT5, 4XC presents traders with a copy trading service by HokoCloud for MT4 and PAMM accounts for traditional account management. 4XC verifies account managers before allowing them to manage capital. Both are quality trading services, but I miss VPS hosting for algorithmic traders.

Research & Education

4XC does not publish in-house research and relies on Acuity for trading signals, which I find an acceptable solution. Additionally, traders have many third-party research tools available online for free and for a fee.

Beginner traders get three courses, two guides, and a platform tutorial. Still, as I conducted my review, only the platform tutorials were available. The other four sections had a short introduction but needed more content. Clicking on them just reloaded the page where traders could select the five options. I found this disappointing, as 4XC mentioned education among its core values.

I advise beginners to learn how to trade elsewhere via online educational resources available for free and start with trading psychology and the relationship between leverage and risk management while avoiding paid-for courses and mentors.

4XC provides 24/5 customer support, but I recommend traders consult the FAQ section, where 4XC answers 85+ questions. 4XC explains its products and services well, but I need a direct line to the finance department, where most issues can arise.

Bonuses and Promotions

4XC offers a 50% first deposit bonus to all traders accepted except for clients resident in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, and the UAE. Terms and conditions apply, and I urge traders to read and understand them before accepting any bonus.

Opening an Account

A 4XC online application takes less than 30 seconds to complete. Traders need only provide their name, valid e-mail, date of birth, country of residence, and phone number. I like that 4XC does not engage in unnecessary data mining and keeps the registration process efficient.

4XC is a regulated broker and complies with global AML/KYC requirements. Therefore, account verification is mandatory, which most traders satisfy by sending a copy of their government-issued ID and one proof of residency document.

Minimum Deposit

Depending on the account type, the 4XC minimum deposit is between $50 and $10,000.

Payment Methods

4XC supports bank wires, credit/debit cards, PIX, cryptocurrencies, advcash, Globe pay, Neteller, Skrill, STICPAY, M-Pesa, FasaPay, Perfect Money, UnionPay, help2pay, Pay Retailers, and Pay Op. Geographic restrictions may apply.

Accepted Countries

4XC accepts traders resident in most countries but singles out the USA, Iraq, Iran, Myanmar, and North Korea as restricted countries.

4XC Account Opening

Deposits and Withdrawals

The secure 4XC back office handles all financial transactions for verified clients.

All 4XC deposits are free except for FasaPay, where a 0.50% fee applies. All withdrawals except for advcash and PIX face a withdrawal charge. 4XC limits all withdrawals to one per day per account, except for VIP accounts. Deposit processing times are instant, but Pay Retailers takes two to three business days. Many withdrawals have instant processing times once 4XC sends the payment, but some take between two to three days with bank wires up to ten business days.

Traders who request a withdrawal within 48 hours of a deposit or without trading will pay all processing fees incurred by 4XC. Geographic restrictions apply, but the 4XC deposit and withdrawal screen will only list the ones available to traders. Traders must also consider potential currency conversion fees and third-party payment processor costs. Per AML rules, the name on the payment processor and 4XC account must match.

4XC Deposit Payment Processors

Is 4XC a good broker?

I like the 4XC trading environment for Forex traders due to its NDD environment with high leverage, negative balance protection, and choice of payment processors. Trading fees in the commission-based Pro account are competitive, and 4XC offers MT4/MT5 trading accounts upgraded with the Acuity plugin, copy trading via HokoCloud, and PAMM accounts. The only things I still need are greater client protection and VPS hosting for algorithmic traders. The asset selection is good for Forex traders but not suitable for others. Overall, I could not find anything wrong with 4XC. I rate this Forex broker as a generally competitive option, but unable to compete with the top-tier Forex brokers.
