XM Fees, Spreads, and Commission Explained

Trading fees at all brokers fall into two categories: frequent trading fees and less frequent non-trading fees. Traders should know about the XM fees, understand when they apply, and compare costs to other brokers to determine their competitiveness.

Types of XM Trading Fees

  • Fx Spreads (the difference between the bid and the ask price, where XM has minimum spreads between 0.6 and 1.0 pips).
  • Commissions (XM maintains a commission-based equity investment account with undisclosed commission charges).
  • Swap rates (charged on leveraged overnight positions, but swap-free assets are available to all traders).
  • Currency conversion fees (undisclosed at XM).

Types of XM Non-trading Fees

  • Deposit fees (not applicable at XM).
  • Withdrawal fees (not applicable at XM).
  • Inactivity fees ($5 monthly after 90 days of inactivity).
  • Currency conversion fees (undisclosed at XM).

Overnight Fees (Swap rates)

Swap rates are the most ignored trading costs, but depending on the strategy, they may become the most significant fee per trade. Swap rates apply to leveraged overnight positions, which triple on Wednesday to account for trades kept open over the weekend.

MT4/MT5 traders can easily access swap rates from their platform by following these steps:

1. Right-click the desired symbol in the Market Watch window and select Specification.

2. Scroll down until you see Swap Long and Swap Short.

Please note:

  • The XM Ultra Low account offers all traders swap-free trading on qualifying assets.
  • Standard accounts have competitive swap rates, including positive ones, allowing traders to earn money while holding trades.
  • Check our XM account types page.

A Breakdown of XM Non-Trading Fees
