MahiFX is a New Zealand based Forex broker that launched in late 2011. Since then, MahiFX, has launched a variety of enhancements for retail FX traders including the ability to trade gold and silver on its platform, and has provided its account holders with direct access to institutional level execution speeds and spreads.
In its latest announcement, MahiFX announced the launch of its new trading desktop which is based on the Adobe AIR 3 technology which is compatible with both Windows?® and Mac OSX operating systems. The quick-launch instant access can be downloaded directly to the MahiFX icon on the trader's desktop and can open multiple windows simultaneously. There is also the ability to minimize the application to the task bar and continue to receive notification pop-ups.
One of the main features of this new program is its option for MahiFX customers to choose between the downloadable installed desktop version according to their trading styles and preferences or the web-based trading application that enables live currency trading from any browser. It is offered for use for both practice and live accounts directly from the MahiFX platform login screen.
According to David Cooney, CEO of MahiFX and former global co-head of currency options and e-FX trading at Barclays Capital, the new desktop version is suited primarily to "?power traders who primarily trade from one dedicated location and who want the convenience of launching the application from a shortcut on their desktop as opposed to accessing the platform through a browser."
MahiFX joins scores of other Forex brokers that have taken to offering both a downloadable version and a web-based version of their trading platform. The brokerage still lacks the mobile trading service offered by most of its competitors, but claims that this feature is coming soon.
