Major currencies started trading this week in a quiet calm manner, while the euro completed its high against the dollar and the yen right before European leaders’ meeting. The Australian and New Zealand dollar however, managed to rise slightly against the U.S dollar.
The euro rose against the U.S dollar to record its highest level at 1.2360, after opening today's trading at the level of 1.2331, recording its lowest level at 1.2320. As for the euro against the Japanese yen, the pair rose at 98.23 after hitting its lowest at 97.93 to currently trade at the level of 98.21.
The Australian dollar against the U.S. dollar traded in a limited scale during today's Asian session, recording the highest at 1.0454, after hitting its lowest at 1.0424, while currently trading at 1.0446. As for the pair NZD/USD, it has recorded a slight increase up to a high of 0.8094 after hitting its lowest at 0.8064.
The pair yen against the U.S dollar reached its lowest level at 79.40 after recording a high of 79.64 to currently trade at 79.46, after it had begun trading session today at 79.51.
High gold and silver
Precious metals commenced its trading this week at positive degrees. When comparing with the performance of precious metals during the past week, you will see that platinum has risen sharply and gained more than 70$ for the price of an ounce platinum. Gold closed trading last week with some decline while the price of silver closed in quasi-neutral.
The price of gold closed the New York last session with an increase of 0.07% at a price of 1615.80 dollars an ounce, but silver price fell by 0.46% to end the New York session at price of 28.09$. As for the price of platinum, it made a jump on Friday by 2.37% during the New York session to close the session at 1469.00 dollars per ounce.
