The best method to identify a classic “price action reversal” is for an hourly candle to close, such as a pin bar, a doji, an outside or even just an engulfing candle with a higher close. You can exploit these levels or zones by watching the price action that occurs at the given levels.
USD/JPY Analysis
Yesterday I noted the increasing bullishness resulting from the break of resistance, but what watching for a reversal close to 107.50. The price instead went on to break above that level, which is another bullish sign. The price has now reached an area close to the obvious upper trend line of its medium-term bearish channel, and so should struggle to get much beyond 108.00. The upwards movement already seems to have halted, so that resistant area may already be having an effect in halting the recent price rise. It looks likely that it will take several more hours for the price to make any decisive directional movement. The best trade would probably be a short from 108.05 starting a reversal back into the direction of the long-term bearish trend.
There is nothing due today concerning the JPY. Regarding the USD, there will be a release of FOMC Meeting Minutes at 7pm London time.
