LIMASSOL — XM has launched GOLD24-7, a new trading instrument designed to give clients extended access to gold markets beyond standard trading hours.

For most of gold trading's history, weekends have meant a blackout window: markets close Friday afternoon and don't reopen until Sunday evening or Monday morning, regardless of what happens in between. A surprise geopolitical development, an unexpected central bank statement, or a shock economic release over a weekend can move gold sharply — and traders have historically had no way to respond until the market reopens, often at a materially different price than where it closed. GOLD24-7 removes that blackout window specifically for gold, letting positions be opened, adjusted or closed at any time, including through the weekend gap that has shaped gold trading for decades.

This matters most for a few specific groups of traders. Swing and position traders who hold gold overnight or over weekends are directly exposed to gap risk under the standard schedule — GOLD24-7 gives them a way to manage that exposure in real time rather than waiting for Monday's open. News- and event-driven traders, who make up a significant share of gold's active trading volume given the metal's sensitivity to macro and geopolitical developments, gain the ability to act on weekend headlines as they break rather than after the fact. And traders using gold as a portfolio hedge against broader market risk gain continuous ability to adjust that hedge, rather than one that's only available five days a week.

Gold is among the most closely watched instruments in CFD trading, with price action historically sensitive to inflation data, US dollar movements, Treasury yields and broader risk sentiment — all of which can move markets outside the traditional Monday-to-Friday session.

GOLD24-7 is offered as a separate CFD product alongside XM's existing spot gold offering (XAU/USD), which continues to operate on its standard trading schedule across the broker's account types.

The launch follows a broader shift toward extended-hours gold access across the trading industry. CME Group introduced 24/7 trading for its 1-ounce gold futures contract in July 2026, and several retail brokers have since introduced their own round-the-clock gold CFD products to mirror this extended access for CFD traders.

As with any extended-hours or weekend trading product, liquidity conditions outside standard market hours can differ from those during peak session overlap, which may affect spreads and execution. Traders should review XM's specific trading hours, spread conditions and margin requirements for GOLD24-7 directly on the platform before trading, as these may differ from the standard XAU/USD product.

XM operates through multiple regulated entities, including CySEC (Cyprus) and DFSA (Dubai), among others, with the specific entity and applicable protections depending on a client's country of residence. Client funds are held in segregated accounts, and negative balance protection applies to eligible retail clients.

GOLD24-7 is available now across XM's supported platforms, subject to account type and regional availability.

Trading CFDs involves a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Leverage can amplify both gains and losses. Past performance is not indicative of future results.
